PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna S.A. has become a patron of the fifth "Chopin and His Europe" International Music Festival. This year's edition of the Festival will be held from 16 to 31 August this year under the slogan "From Staier to Staier"; its objective is to present Andreas Staier, a true historic piano virtuoso, to the general public.
"It is a great honour for us that PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna S.A. is able to sponsor an event of such high prestige. The Festival's artistic level and setting, outstanding artists and popularity among music lovers simply confirm that it is an exquisite prelude to the Chopin Year beginning in January next year," says Romuald Zadrożny Marketing Department Director in PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna S.A. Among the artists invited to participate in the Festival are, amongst others, such famous names as Argerich, Ohlsson, Ax, Lugansky, Goerner, Melnikov, Shelley and the Capuçon brothers. The Polish piano school will be represented by Janusz Olejniczak, Magdalena Lisak, Ewa Kupiec and Ewa Pobłocka.
A performance of the "piano prodigies" - fourteen-year-old Jan Lisiecki and thirteen-year-old Aimi Kobayashi - will certainly be the Festival's special event. The festival will comprise 25 concerts performed at the National Philharmonic, the National Opera, the Witold Lutosławski Polish Radio Concert Hall and the Royal Castle in Warsaw. The Festival is organized by the National Fryderyk Chopin Institute; its art director is Stanisław Leszczyński - an outstanding expert in Chopin's music.
