As a leading producer and supplier of electricity and heat in Poland, we focus on innovative solutions, including innovative and green technologies. The aim of PGE is to take comprehensive measures to promote energy efficiency and the implementation of the concept of a closed-loop economy. The proof of this is the Letter of Intent signed today on the construction of the second process line in the WtE Plant – says Ryszard Wasiłek, Vice President of the Board for Oparations of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna.

The signing of the Letter of Intent is an expression of the will to take joint actions for the implementation of the construction of the second process line in the Waste to Energy Plant in Rzeszów. The planned project will increase the performance of the installation from 100,000 to 180,000 tons per year. Before carrying out the project it is necessary to perform technical and economic analyses taking account of the current and forecast situation on the market of waste that can be processed in the WtE Plant in the coming years.

In October 2018 the Waste to Energy Plant (WtE Plant) in Rzeszów was built. This modern and eco-friendly process facility intended for the disposal of municipal waste and allowing to recover the energy contained in waste in the process of their incineration, contributes to the production of electricity and heat in the process of highly efficiency cogeneration. The produced energy and heat is used by local residents and institutions in Rzeszów.

PGE Energia Ciepła is the leader in the heat generation sector and as a producer of heat and electricity it is a constant and vital element of the infrastructure of cities and the life of their inhabitants. Our ambition is to be a local partner supporting local governments in the development of district heating and in actions related to municipal waste management. Signing a Letter of Intent on the construction of the second process line in the WtE Plant is a confirmation of our ambition. The construction planned will affect the balanced and low-carbon development of Podkarpacie, improving air quality in the region – says Wojciech Dąbrowski, President of the Board of PGE Energia Ciepła.

The construction of the second line of the Waste to Energy Plant in Rzeszów is in line with the provisions of the updated Voivodeship Waste Management Plan of the Podkarpackie Voivodship. The aim of the local government of the Podkarpackie Voivodship is the creation of a complete system of waste management, including the establishment of infrastructure needed to achieve the most eco-friendly solutions for municipal waste management. Therefore we are pleased with the implementation of the planned investment by the PGE Group, the biggest investor in energy, guarantor of stability and credible partner - adds Władysław Ortyl, Marshal of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship.
