The PGE Capital Group is in second position in the prestigious ranking of "Poland's 500 largest companies in 2009". The twelfth edition of the ranking has been prepared by the Rzeczpospolita daily.
Rzeczpospolita's 500 List is a regularly prepared ranking of Poland's business enterprises leading with respect to capitalisation and revenues. A condition for classification in the List was the achievement of very good financial results in 2009. The promotion of PGE Capital Group from fourth place in 2008 to second place last year shows that despite the economic slowdown and the lower level of industrial production, the year 2009 was successful for PGE.
- PGE has proved that even in a period of economic difficulties it is possible for businesses to continue their stable development. Our debut on the stock exchange and very good financial results for the year 2009 confirm that PGE is a strong and well managed company, said Mr Tomasz Zadroga, Management Board President of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna S.A.
- Right now we are in the process of implementing an ambitious investment plan and Poland's largest consolidation programme within the Capital Group. We have an opportunity to become one of the leaders of the power generation market in our part of Europe, added Mr Zadroga.
The results of the ranking will be announced and the representatives of Poland's largest companies will receive occasional diplomas during a ceremony to be held in Warsaw on 28 April this year.
