Poland's energy security, the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Poland and renewable power generation are just a few of the topics discussed during the 13th International Energy Conference EUROPOWER 2010.
During this year's edition of the conference the prize in the category of "The Personality of the Year in the Power Generation Industry" was awarded to Tomasz Zadroga, Management Board President of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna.
The major issues of the EUROPOWER 2010 conference, held in Warsaw on 22 and 23 September 2010, were related to the problems and opportunities of the power generation industry all over the world. Among the speakers and lecturers, there were also representatives of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna. Marcin Ciepliński, Management Board President of PGE Energia Jądrowa S.A., was a member of the panel dedicated to the construction of Poland's first nuclear power plant and the particular aspects of the nuclear power generation programme, while Tadeusz Witos, Management Board Member of PGE Górnictwo i Energetyka Konwencjonalna S.A., discussed the issue of CO2 in the 21st century power generation.
During the ceremonial gala accompanying the conference the winners received EUROPOWER 2010 prizes in the particular categories. The prize in the category of "The Personality of the Year in the Power Generation Industry" was awarded to Tomasz Zadroga, Management Board President of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna S.A. The committee awarding the prize stressed Mr Zadroga's professionalism and determination in the development of the Company as the leader of the power generation industry in Central and Eastern Europe. The other prizes were awarded in such categories as innovative solutions in power generation, the development of renewable power generation, the social accountability of business in the power generation industry and power-related solutions in the industry.
This year's edition of the conference was organised under the patronage of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy – Waldemar Pawlak, Minister of the Environment – Andrzej Kraszewski, the Parliamentary Power Generation Commission and the Polish Employers' Association.
PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna S.A. was the chief sponsor of EUROPOWER 2010, while PGE EJ1 Sp. z o.o. sponsored the panel entitled "Nuclear Power Generation - PGE on the Way to Build Poland's First Nuclear Power Plant".
