EJ1 sp. z o.o. is to be directly responsible for the preparation of the investment process, the performance of location studies and the acquisition of all decisions and permits necessary for the construction of a nuclear power plant. The company will also deal with the selection of a partner or partners participating in a consortium that will build Poland's first nuclear power plant.

EJ1 sp. z o.o. is a subsidiary of PGE Energia Jądrowa S.A. Incorporated in December 2009, PGE Energia Jądrowa S.A. is responsible for the management of the Nuclear Power Generation business line within the structure of the PGE Capital Group.

At the beginning of 2009 the Polish government entrusted PGE with a mission to develop nuclear power generation in Poland. PGE's investment plans provide for the construction of two nuclear power plants, each with a capacity of about 3,000 MW. The commissioning of the first unit in a new nuclear power plant is planned for the year 2020.
